Doing Yoga

Being Yoga

Living Yoga

Taking yoga off the mat, into your daily life

This might sound strange since I am a Yoga teacher, however I see Yoga as a way of life. My journey of Yoga is a story on it’s own and by having this experience I know exactly how most of you feel. With much care and attention, I will guide you to connect with your body so you can experience what Yoga really means, and can do for you.

From Doing Yoga to Being Yoga and in the end Living Yoga.

On this website you will see all the different things that I have to offer from my Yoga lifestyle and how I can help you to experience Yoga differently.

Contact me to discover what I can mean for you on your (inner) journey.

Much Love
Caroline

“Adding Yoga into your daily life is not as difficult as rocket science and probably already something you do which just needs a softening or deepening experience.”

Think about:

  • Ayurveda is a natural system of integrated medicine, based on the ‘knowledge of life’. Learn to live by nature and apply food plans according to your Dosha, so you can learn to feel what your body needs on any given day for optimal health.

  • You can learn to apply Yoga standing brushing your teeth or cooking. Yoga is not about reaching a certain pose or being on the mat each day. You can apply Yoga in everyday things and become more aware in your everyday life.

  • To master giving yourself 15 to 30 minutes of mindfulness in the morning can change your mindset from feeling stressed and tired, to letting go and allowing peaceful acceptance.

  • Gain an understanding of self-reflection, handling your emotions and finding joy in ordinary moments.

To me Yoga is:

  • The ability to provide myself with the food my body and soul needs

  • Practicing Yoga regularly to bring balance for my mind, body and soul

  • Meditation each morning as the sun rises

  • Feeling into the boundaries of my body

  • Being mindful in the way I talk to myself and others, in the way I treat Mother Earth, and how I express myself

  • Deepening my self-awareness by going to other Yoga classes, having a massage and receiving spiritual practices such as a soul reading and a sound bath

This is for you

Let me explain how I came to realise that this is exactly what you need.

When I started doing Yoga, I used to strive for the perfect shaped pose, forcing myself into uncomfortable positions, with no compassion for my body. The purpose of Yoga is to notice where we hold tension, release the tension, find acceptance of our own bodies, which allows freer movement to feel into the boundaries of the body and mind.

You are authentic because you can’t do some of the Yoga poses and that is why I identify with you”.

In the Western Yoga world, this can be seen as a negative or a downfall as a teacher, I, however, consider this to be a compliment.  You see, Yoga is not about just doing poses, or doing Yoga, Yoga is a way of life.

Being Yoga, Living Yoga.

Stephanie Tuinte | Psychic medium & healer

“More than two months I stayed at the apartment of Casa De Alegria and enjoyed the all-inclusive stay. Which started as a stay to recover from an illness, became a life journey into Yoga. Caroline shares her knowledge and love through everything she’s offering and her husband Mark was there to help me move and created several things for me out of wood. It gave me so much more than I could have wished for. Next to the Yoga practices and the Holistic Bodywork, she shared the world of Ayurveda and Vegan cooking; food as medicine. I started to feel better, lost weight even, my business got back into flow and I came in contact with this amazing guy. Also the beautiful south-facing garden with the pool terrace was my daily meditation moment to just stare at the mountains and feel grateful for this unexpected gift. It was a truly magical time of my life in which I remembered that in moments like these, we need each other and find our way back to love.”

Janette Robinson-Beck | School Teacher

“A wonderful retreat set in a beautiful location with excellent accommodation.  Caroline’s expertise shines through, providing a range of styles and transformative suggestions and offerings.

What I remember most is the kindness, warmth, safety, stunning views and the variety of Yoga styles, I loved ‘free dance’.

I highly recommend and would return indeed.”

Johanne Mayers | 6th Form Supervisor

“It was a door to door service, a holistic warm environment that made me feel safe at all times.  Caroline’s approach allows you to go at your own pace and supports you all the way.  This experience is totally what you put in will result in what you get from it with Caroline’s guidance.  An enriching and fulling experience.  I felt welcome at all times and Caroline is attentive, observant and anticipated all of my needs.

What I will remember most about the retreat is that the views are spectacular, breathtaking and grounding.  The whole residence creates and promotes peace, tranquility and sanctuary with so many areas to explore.”

It all started with a meditation

Amidst the chaos of a pandemic, I found a moment of clarity during meditation, which was an inspiring vision of Casa de Alegria; a sanctuary exuding joy, peace, safety, and personal growth. My husband Mark wholeheartedly embraced this dream, shaping the retreat's tranquil grounds.

Casa de Alegria is a heartfelt tribute to our shared vision. Named "House of Joy," it is my Yoga passion melded with Mark's dedication to creating a transformative oasis. This journey spanned from London to Spain, culminating in a holistic haven, placing individual well-being at the forefront of everything we do.

As a community, we welcome you to join us and experience what we have to share.

Welcome to our safe haven

The apartment has everything you need: a super king size bed, a couch, a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely cosy bathroom.

We have a beautiful garden with several seating areas where you can relax in nature. Check out the little tour in the video.

The Yoga studio holds space for 4 participants to keep the setting intimate. I teach several Yoga classes every week, and if there is space, you can join these classes as well as the retreat offering.

Meet CAROLINE

I first discovered yoga in a London gym in 2005 as a physical practice of exercise. I felt completely out of place in an all-levels class, but I knew there was something different about it. Yoga felt soft and relaxing, like coming home to my body and mind, and I recognised I needed more.

From that moment on, I went to regular classes finding out quickly that I wasn’t as flexible as other people in the room. I strived for flexibility for a very long time, this created feelings of insecurity, failure, and fear that my practice wasn’t good enough. I carried these negative feelings for 15 years until I began my Yoga Teacher Training.  For me, this training was brutal and horrific. It was a challenge to leave the striving of the perfect poses, the ‘ego’ pose, behind. That is a compliment to the training that I choose, I learned to accept my body, accept myself where I am, and lose the shame of using props to support my practice and think of them now as aids to guide me.

I left all my Yoga teachers because I realised that the practises weren’t subtle enough for my current state of body and mind, they had served me well in the beginning, now it was time to break free and find my own practice.  During some classes in my early days, there was a kind of shame related to using props and some teachers rarely offered supportive options in poses, which I feel truly misses the point of Yoga.

This experience made me realise that softness was needed in my overall life - off the mat. I was working in the hard, masculine corporate world, and participating in ‘Westernised’ masculine styles of Yoga. At that moment in my life, it was a perfect fit, but later on I softened my life and Yoga practice.

Yoga was my lifeline to a life living from the heart which changed everything. Yoga isn’t just a pose, it is a lifestyle, with a set of social ethics and personal practices which I live by, therefore living Yoga. I follow Patanjali’s Classical System of Yoga, the 8 limbs of Yoga, however some teachers only practice parts of this system and it shows.

For me, Yoga is a lifestyle, a sacred work to pass on and share.

Are you ready to live Yoga?
